Dr. Geneviève Guétemme, Lecturer in Visual Arts at the University of Orléans, invites you to a thematic guided
visit in English
at the Fitzwilliam Museum: “Animals in the Fitzwilliam.”
During this one-hour journey through 5 to 6 galleries, participants will explore a selection of artworks that highlight animals — from fish
and insects to an owl, birds, and even a majestic tiger. At every stop, there will be time for a rapid sketch (around 3 minutes) to capture
an impression of the work. Coloured pencils will be provided, though participants are encouraged to bring a small notebook or sketchbook.
The visit will conclude with a longer pause in the final room, offering a more detailed focus on one artwork and the opportunity to produce a
more developed drawing.
This engaging hour combines close observation with a touch of creative practice, providing a playful way to discover the Fitzwilliam’s
collection through the theme of animals.
