The Alliance Française Cambridge celebrated its 40th anniversary!

Gastronomy, music, smiles, languages, fashion, and culture: what could be better to represent France and the Francophonie?

It was under a bright blue sky that we gathered on Saturday, June 11th in our new premises at 1 Red Cross Lane. As Queen Elisabeth II, we also celebrated our Jubilee: 40 years is something to celebrate!

This event rich in emotion took place in the presence of Nabil BEN KHEDHER, Tunisian Ambassador to the United Kingdom – Cllr Jenny GAWTHROPE WOOD, the Deputy Mayor of Cambridge and Bertrand BUCHWLATER, Cultural Attaché to the French Embassy and Director of the Institut Français in London who represents the French Ambassador. Were also present our partners, students, and friends of the Alliance.

Multiculturalism as a common thread

Created in 1982, the Alliance has always been committed to promoting Francophonie and multiculturalism. Being part of the Alliances Françaises network is a great opportunity since it allows us to join forces and to give the greatest number of people access to a rich and varied content.

For the director Patricia Dalby and the president Pierre Pillet: “We militate for multilingualism which allows a true opening towards others but also for the learning of a certain diplomacy supporting the acceptance and the comprehension of other cultures

An unmissable place to learn French

At the Alliance Française Cambridge, we place a great emphasis on the quality of the French classes taught by our native teachers who are constantly trained. We put the human relations at the heart of our exchanges by adapting to our students or during our friendly cultural events. Our relocation last September provides us with wonderful classrooms to be at the cutting edge of technology and spacious gardens to relax.

The alliance is dynamic, in a permanent evolution, that the reason why we have decided to open, next September, French classes in Norwich.

Thank you!

The entire team would like to thank you all dearly for your presence and constant support throughout the years, the Alliance Française Cambridge wouldn’t be the same without ours members, partners and friends!
